The government, however, has not allowed schools, colleges, metro rail service, cinema halls to open till August 31 in the wake of rising cases of coronavirus.
India's coronavirus count inched closer to 17 lakh mark on Saturday after the country reported the highest single-day spike of 57,117 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
Of the total cases, 10,94,372 have been successfully treated while one case has been migrated from the country. There are 5,65,103 active cases of COVID-19 in India and all are under medical supervision.
The death toll increased to 36,511 in the country with 764 more persons succumbing to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
"Single-day spike of 57,117 positive cases and 764 deaths in India in the last 24 hours. Total COVID-19 positive cases stand at 16,95,988 including 5,65,103 active cases, 10,94,374 cured/discharged and 36,511 deaths," said the ministry.
