The government, however, has not allowed schools, colleges, metro rail service, cinema halls to open till August 31 in the wake of rising cases of coronavirus.
What’s allowed in Unlock 3.0?
- In the third phase, the government has allowed opening of yoga institutes and gymnasiums from August 5 for which separate Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be issued by the Union Health Ministry. Yoga institutes and gymnasiums have been shut since March 25 when the government had imposed nationwide lockdown.
- Restrictions on movement of individuals during night (night curfew) have been removed, according to the new guidelines.
- Independence Day functions will be allowed with social distancing and by following other health protocols, e.g., wearing of masks etc.
- International air travel of passengers has been permitted in a limited manner under the Vande Bharat mission. Further opening-up will take place in a calibrated manner.
What’s not allowed in Unlock 3.0?
- Among the prohibited activities are metro rail services, cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places
- Social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions and other large congregations will also continue to be prohibited till August 31.
- Schools, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed till August 31. The government took the decision after extensive consultation with states and Union territories.
- Vulnerable persons, i.e., people above 65 years of age, people with co-morbidities, pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 years, are advised to stay at home, except for meeting essential requirements and for health purposes
- Strict enforcement of lockdown in containment zones will continue till August 31.
India sees highest single-day spike of over 57,000 COVID-19 cases
India's coronavirus count inched closer to 17 lakh mark on Saturday after the country reported the highest single-day spike of 57,117 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
Of the total cases, 10,94,372 have been successfully treated while one case has been migrated from the country. There are 5,65,103 active cases of COVID-19 in India and all are under medical supervision.
The death toll increased to 36,511 in the country with 764 more persons succumbing to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
"Single-day spike of 57,117 positive cases and 764 deaths in India in the last 24 hours. Total COVID-19 positive cases stand at 16,95,988 including 5,65,103 active cases, 10,94,374 cured/discharged and 36,511 deaths," said the ministry.
