As per the confirmed information, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India Ritin Rai has accepted an offer to join 7 King's Bench Walk Barristers in London.
He had joined chambers as a Door Tenant with effect from Wednesday.
Ritin Rai is an expert in International Dispute Resolution. He was of the opinion that the door tenancy would help further his existing practice.
Rai has expertise in commercial and regulatory disputes in all areas, including telecom, company law, insolvency, and competition law.
Ritin Rai is a graduate of Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. He went on to complete a BCL from Oxford University and an LL.M from Harvard University in 1998.
He began his career at International Law Firm Jones Day, where he spent two years. He then worked at Pathak & Associates for three years, before setting up his independent practice in Delhi.
He is among the 37 Lawyers who were recently designated as Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court ate by the Supreme Court of India.
Rai is the first International Lawyer to be inducted into 7 King's Bench Walk. He joins a small but significant group of Indian lawyers associated with a set of Barristers’ Chambers in London.
In Aug 2014, Nakul Dewan was invited to join 20 Essex Street. A few months later, ASG and Senior Advocate Gourab Banerji joined Essex Court Chambers. In 2016, Senior Advocate Gaurav Pachnanda joined Fountain Court Chambers, London as a Door Tenant (an overseas associate).
In June last year, Swathi Sukumar was made Door Tenant at Hogarth Chambers. In September, Abhimanyu Bhandari was invited to join 4 Pump Court as an Associate Member. Earlier this year, Percival Billimoria was admitted as a door tenant at Outer Temple Chambers.
Former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium is a member of 3 Verulam Building while leading Senior Counsel Harish Salve is a member of Blackstone Chambers.
