SC admits Petition challenging grant of extra marks IIT-Joint Entrance examination for Advance Course

Total of seven marks -- three for Chemistry and four for Mathematics were granted.

Supreme Court on Friday sought Centre's response to a petition challenging grant of the seven extra marks to all the candidates who had appeared for IIT-Joint Entrance examination for the advance course.

Extra marks were granted in wake of a printing error in a the Hindi language paper.

Issuing notice to HRD Ministry, Apex  Court's Vacation Bench comprising of Justice Abhey Manohar Sapre and Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul refused to interfere with counselling that has commenced on Friday.

Supreme Court has also issued notice to IIT Madras which had organised exam for 2017.

Sushma Suri, Senior Counsel , appearing for students, who were likely to be adversely affected by decision, urged the Apex Court to stated that all the admissions would be subject to outcome of plea before Apex Court.

Next hearing would be on July 7,2017.

All candidates across Board were granted seven marks three in Chemistry and four in the Mathematics.
