The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has issued a memorandum warning security officials to keep their distance from a Delhi-based woman lawyer. The woman has been reportedly using her relation with officers to seek personal favours & to elicit sensitive information.

“The (advocate’s) activities are prejudicial to national interest. It has been reported that she (name withheld) has taken interest in developing connections with the officers of Indian Army & CAPFs. She's using her relations with these officers in seeking personal favors like transfer posting & elicitation of sensitive information from prominent government officials,” the ITBP said.

The memorandum, which was accessed by the news agency, says, "She has formed close connections with both retired & in-service officials of various Government ministries as well as CRPF, ITBP, JKP & Delhi Police. She is known to honey trap officials & later uses them to get her work done.”

The ITBP said that " The forces should sensitize the ranks & file about indulgence of the lady in undesirable activities detrimental to the security interest of the country & Force as well".

It added that "This may also ensure that entry of lady advocates of ITBP locations is barred."

The woman has reportedly been under the intelligence agency’s scanner for several months. Top officials have allegedly red-flagged her behaviour, calling it “suspicious”. She reportedly spent several days in a row in sensitive locations like Jammu & Kashmir, which alarmed the security agencies.

“She could be a potential threat. Her overtures to top officials are tantamount to security threat,” the ITBP said.

An official claimed that one of the top officers of ITBP is said to have taken her along for the Amarnath Yatra this year, though the "pilgrimage" was suspended for the second year in a row.

Another top official said, “Yes, she approached me through a known top officer. But no undue favour was asked or given, but her behaviour was a little off.”

In the last one year, the woman advocate has allegedly travelled extensively to Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, & even the election-bound states like Uttar Pradesh & Punjab.

The written communication also mentions that the woman was impersonating a Judicial Magistrate of Tis Hazari Court.

THE WOMAN’S MODUS OPERANDI
The ITBP’s communication warns of the woman’s modus operandi, stating that the woman honey traps officials to elicit information, as well as personal favours.

“She is known to honey trap officers & later uses them to get her work done. Depending upon the kind of relations she shares with an official, she asks them for information, personal favours, contact details of prominent government officials & help in transfer & posting of CAPF personnel,” the memorandum warned.

Another officer of ITBP said, "Like several visitors, she would visit the ITBP, but the "intelligence input" seems strange. We have never seen a communication of this kind. It seems too much is being read into it. However, the order will be complied with.”

Marking the woman as "suspicious", the communication says the advocate is interested in connecting with influential people & takes a lot of interest in news related to J&k transfer of senior officials of CAPF s & in the "personal life" of her connections.

She has reportedly shown interest in developing similar connections in the Indian Army, preferably in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand & Delhi.
