The Allahabad High Court has granted ten days’ time as prayed by Chief Standing Counsel to file their reply in connection with the contempt petition filed before the court for non-implementation of the order of the court to provide financial assistance to needy Advocates and registered Advocate clerks.
The Single bench of Justice Piyush Agrawal while dealing with the contempt petition has allowed the prayer of the respondent/State and allowed the time period of 10 days to seek the instructions in the present matter.
Earlier the division bench comprising of Chief Justice Govind Mathur & Justice Siddharth Verma had issued various directions to the bar Associations of Uttar Pradesh and to the state Government for framing the scheme of disbursing aid to the needy advocates and their clerks who are facing severe difficulty amid COVID-19 lockdown.
The Court has issued notice to the Chairman and Secretary of the UP Advocates Welfare Funds Trustees Committee for the implementation of the order.
The Court has listed the matter on September 14, 2020 for the next hearing.
