The Allahabad High Court has granted time period of one month as a last opportunity to the state government to respond to the petition filed for the remaining recruitment of 5292 posts from recruitment of 41520 police constables in 2018.

Previously the court had sought an answer from the state government in this case a year ago but no reply was filed by the government.

On this, the Division Bench of Justice Abhinav Upadhyay and Justice Prakash Padiya while dealing with the petition of Ajit Yadav and 115 others expressed its displeasure and gave the last opportunity to the government by stating that,

“Earlier in 2019, time was granted to learned Standing Counsel to file counter affidavit but till date no counter affidavit has been filed. As a last opportunity one month and no more time is allowed to learned Standing Counsel for filing counter affidavit.”

According to the petitioners, in January 2018, 41520 posts were advertised by the Police Recruitment Board, out of which 23520 posts were of Police and 18000 posts were of PAC Constable.

The petitioner was declared successful in the written examination. After that there was document verification, physical standard test and physical efficiency test (race). The petitioners also succeeded in them. Then the final selection list was put in place before the medical test and 23520 candidates were made medical, out of which only 20349 candidates were sent for training. Due to this, many posts remained vacant in the constable quota and similarly, the candidates with PAC were also given medical treatment. Out of them only 15879 candidates were sent for training.

Thus a total of 5292 posts remain vacant. Despite such a large number of vacancies, the recruitment board is not sending the eligible candidates for training by conducting medical tests, nor is any response being filed on the petition from the government.
