On Monday, the Rajasthan High Court has issued a standing order cautioning all the Judicial Officers and the Court staff of the High Court as well as the Subordinate Courts/ Tribunals/ Special Courts, to act 'responsibly' over social media.

The High Court has asked all the above mentioned Officers and Staff to desist from forwarding, liking, disliking and/or commenting upon any posts which are against Government policies/ High Court Administration.

The Court noted:

"Judicial Officers and the Court staff are forwarding, liking, disliking and commenting upon the posts which are not only scandalous and derogatory but sensational also. They express opinion in social media on the matters to which they have no concern whatsoever."

The Court has asked them not to forward any official communication on Social Media, except when it is required by them as a part of bonafide discharge of their official duty.

The order stresses that using Social Media during office hours affects functioning of the Court and also diminishes the dignity and reputation of the entire system. and thus the Judicial Officers and Court staff shalln't access it while working.

The High Court has cautioned that violation of any of the abovementioned stipulations shall tantamount to 'misconduct' under the provisions of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1971 and will attract suitable disciplinary action.
