The Allahabad High Court has dismissed the Public Interest Litigation which sought cancelation of Bhumi Pujan ceremony for laying down foundation stone of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya on 5 August.
Social activist and Congress leader Saket Ghokhle has approached to Allahabad High Court and filed the petition for writ to have an appropriate writ or direction to cancel the bhumi pujan. He has submitted before the court that more than 300 people are invited at a single place to take part in that ceremony on 5 August. Presence of such number of people at the one place is flagrant violation of the protocol prescribed by the Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh for the purpose of maintaining social and physical distancing to combat pandemic of COVID-19.
The two judges bench comprising of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh while dismissing the present petition held that the petition is completely based on assumption and there is no foundation for apprehending violation of the prescribed protocol. The Court also said that we expect that organizers and Government of state will ensure that protocol applicable for social and physical distancing must be followed during Bhumi Pujan in Ayodhya. The writ petition was dismissed by court.
