In the notification out on Wednesday, the Central Government has notified the transfer of Justice Subramonium Prasad, Additional Judge of the Madras High Court, as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court.
His transfer was proposed by the Supreme Court Collegium in a resolution dated February 14th.
In the SC Collegium meeting held on 12th February, he was proposed to be made a Permanent Judge of Madras High Court. The proposal for his transfer also happened on the same day, although published on a later date.
The Supreme Court, in Dec 2018, had dismissed a writ petition which had challenged the appointment of Justice Subramonium Prasad as an Additional Judge. It was argued in the petition that he lacked sufficient practice in Madras High Court and also in Subordinate Courts.
The petition was followed by his elevation as the Additional Judge of the Court on June 04, 2018.
