Father shoots 2 Daughters dead for stealing Cellphone

A 50-year-old man allegedly shot dead his 2 daughters with a country-made (Desi) pistol in Mainpuri after he found out that they had stolen a cellphone during a 'Holi milan' programme.

According to the Poice, the accused, Sukhdev Sharma, was arrested after he called police on Wednesday night & informed them that he had killed his daughters, Neha, 20, & Anamika,18.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Mainpuri Ajay Kumar, the accused told Police that he had committed the crime as he was “humiliated” by his daughters’ act.

Ajay Kumar said that an FIR under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against him at Kotwali Police Station & 2 mobile phones, a country-made pistol & one live cartridges have been recovered from him.

The accused had been invited along with his family members for a "Holi milan” programme on Tuesday by Pawan Sharma, who works as a driver for a State Minister, at his residence. Pawan had hired Sharma to work as a mason in his house. Later that day, Pawan’s mother found her Nokia mobile phone missing.

When Sharma inquired about the missing phone from his daughters, they handed it to him on Wednesday evening. A little later, Sharma went out to drink & when he got back he shot both of his daughters, police said. Sharma is survived by a son.
