CAM advises J.P. Morgan on ₹1612 cr block trade in Samvardhana Motherson International

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas advised J.P. Morgan India Private Limited (J.P. Morgan), the broker, in relation to block sale of shares of Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (Motherson), with reported aggregating value of INR 1612 crores.

The Capital Markets Practice of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas advised J.P. Morgan on the transaction. The transaction team was led by Abhinav Kumar, Partner& Regional Head Markets Practice (Western Region); with support from Aashima Johur, Principal Associate.

As a part of the transaction, by Sumitomo Wiring Systems sold 230,000,000 equity shares of Motherson, by way of a share sale on the screen-based trading platform of BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited. This comprised a sale of 3.4% stake by Sumitomo Wiring Systems in Motherson for a reported aggregate amount of Rs. 1612 crore.

Other Parties and Advisors to the transaction included Ashurst LLP, U.S. (acted as international legal counsel for broker).

The Transaction was signed on 15th March 2023; and closed on 16th March 2023.
