About the Young Lawyers Forum

Young Lawyers Forum is a Not-for-Profit Registered Society based in Srinagar, J&K. The Organization works in the areas of Public Interest Litigation and Public Legal Awareness besides advocating for quality legal education and research amongst students of law through various initiatives in the nature of competitions, workshops and career guidance to budding lawyers.

The Journal of Legal Theory and Practice is one such ambitious initiative of the Organization.

About the Position

The Young Lawyers Forum is inviting applications for Student Editors for the first edition of its journal titled “Journal of Legal Theory and Practice [JLTP]” for the year 2023.

The Journal will cover contemporary legal issues across diverse areas of the legal field and will be a great opportunity for people associated with the field to get their work published and publicized.

It will be a blind peer-reviewed and refereed journal, intended to promote quality legal research. The editorial team on board are well-known and qualified legal experts in different areas of law.

Roles and Responsibilities

The student editors expected to join shall have the following responsibilities:

  • Conducting a preliminary review of submissions under consideration.
  • To edit the submissions vis-a-vis grammar, spelling, punctuation, fact-checking, and plagiarism checking.
  • To incorporate feedback, reviews, and comments received by the subject expert in the submissions.
  • To make any corrections, if necessary regarding syntax, style, and referencing.

Who is it for?

  • Any student enrolled in BA.LLB, year 3rd or above
  • Any student enrolled in LLB. Year 3rd
  • Law graduates (BA.LLB/LLB) or postgraduates (LLM/Ph.D.)
  • Students pursuing LLM/ PhD.in any area of Law

Note:

  • Any student pursuing BA.LLB/LLB. must be enrolled in any institution approved by the Bar Council of India.
  • Students pursuing LLM/Ph.D. must have completed their bachelor's in law through an institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Application Procedure

  • Interested students can submit their applications via email to contact@ylfkashmir.com with the subject head “EOI-Student Editor” along with their CV and one writing sample (whether published or not) as an attachment to the email.
  • The Shortlisted Candidates will be called for a brief interview upon which their selection shall be finalized.

Perks

1. The student editors will receive a certificate of experience for their work.
2. Letter of recommendation.

Stipend

The position is unpaid.
