Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) has sent a legal notice to Sony SAB TV and the producers of the serial Dashami Creations, for “infringement of copyrights” in context to their TV serial Namune telecasted on Sony network, which is largely based on the literature and characters created by Marathi author PL Deshpande. The serial Namune is largely based on the characters from the author PL Deshpande’s book ‘Vyakti and Valli’ IUCAA claims that after the demise of the eminent author all the ownerships of copyright of his work were in the hands of his wife which was further passed on to IUCAA in her will.

Hence the current rights of PL Deshpande’s work stay in the hands of IUCAA.

In its notice IUCAA has demanded SONY Group and the producers of the serial a public apology accepting the illegal act of copyright infringement and also compensation of                     ₹ 50,00,000 and prohibition of further telecasting of the episodes failing which criminal lawsuit will be filed against it.
