September 7,2018:
Nokia presented its Nokia 808 PureView in 2012, which was one of the best camera-centric phones at that time.
According to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the trademark for PureView was transferred to the Finnish giant HMD Global (made up of the mobile phone business that Nokia had sold to Microsoft in 2014, then bought back in 2016) on August 23, which has the Nokia brand license.
It will expire on January 4, 2022
Microsoft bought Nokia’s devices and services in 2013/2014. Later, the PureView moniker was often associated with excellent cameras when Nokia Lumia 920, 1020, Microsoft Lumia 950 and more came into the market.
Nokia 808 PureView, which introduced PureView for the first time was a smartphone with 41 MP lens, featuring on-chip image processor performing image scaling with oversampling, giving improved digital zoom and reduced noise, having Xenon flash, high-resolution Zeiss all-aspherical 1-group lenses and 1080p HD video camera.
Under the Microsoft, Nokia started to lose its popularity as Android smartphones and iPhones came in market. It came to life again when HMD Global started marketing the smartphones under the brand in 2016. In 2018, for the first time, it secured a spot under the list of top 10 smartphone shipments after its re-entry. HMD has also acquired Asha, Express-On and Tarmo trademark.
