UGC takes a Policy decision: Bans all kinds of junk Food on its Campuses accross the Nation

November,11,2016:In a latest devlopment the University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all the Central varsities to take immediate steps to ban junk food on their campuses.

In a communication issued to all Vice-Chancellors, Secretary to UGC Sh. Jaspal S. Sandhu disclosed that the HRD Ministry has desired to issue instructions against display and sale of all kinds of junk food in Higher Educational Institutions in the Country.

It is said that banning junk food in all the colleges in the Country would set new standards for intake of healthy food and make the students to live a better life.,

This will help them learn better and also reduce their obesity levels as young learners.

It will help them prevent lifestyle diseases which have a direct relation with excessive weight,

He shared that all central varsities would implement the directive and the measures to sensitise the students on the ill effects of consumption of junk food.
