In Rome, a Court has given an unusual penalty to the client of an under-age prostitute by ordering him to buy her 30 books based on the theme of women’s dignity as reported by Italian media on Friday.
The unnamed man (35) who has been sent to two years of imprisonment would also be required to give the 15-year-old victim works which include novels by Virginia Wolf, Anne Frank’s Diary and the poems of Emily Dickinson, as well as two feminist-themed films.
The Judgment by Judge Paola Di Nicola follows the investigation which was launched in year 2013 into Rome based prostitution ring that had pimped two girls of age 14 and 15, in Parioli suburb of the Italian capital.
The teenagers were lured into the world of prostitution with cash which they used to “buy new clothes and the latest mobile phones”, according to the reports of the investigators. The mastermind of the sex ring was jailed for 9 years in the year 2014.
