Delhi Police Survey claims Number of Corrupt Cops down to 34% from 66% in 2014, in its 85,000 strong Force

Vigilance Department's Anti-Corruption Helpline received 1.09 lakh complaints against Cops.

A Delhi Police survey found that 34% of the cops to be corrupt in 2015, it's down from 66% in 2014.

About dozen of Delhi Police personnel was arrested on criminal charges in last year.

Recently 3 traffic policemen were caught  for abducting a businessman. They drove him around central Delhi untill he agreed to give them the money he had to deposit at bank.

A few days after this incident, a policeman was shot by some criminals & later it was found that he was secretly allowing them to run a dance bar in outer Delhi and a gambling racket.

In May 2016, a SHO was arrested after it was found that he instigated the girlfriend of a criminal to commit suicide. The woman later reached the police station in Tis Hazari  & consumed poison, while blaming the SHO for her death.

Last year, 88 cases were registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against policemen. Inquiries had been conducted against 838 policemen, out of which charges were confirmed against an ACP , 12 inspectors, 18 sub-inspectors, 2 ASIs, 5 head constables & 15 constables.

490 cops were suspended in 2015.

The department got 1,09,000 complaints on it's anti corruption helpline. A 24x7 flying squad was formed for the corruption related complaints. A mobile app has also been launched for quick registration.
