January,6,2017:
On Thursday, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari gave the idea of rewarding citizens up to ₹200, who'll send photos of illegally parked vehicles to the enforcement agencies.
Saying that it was his personal view, Nitin Gadkari said any such extreme move can be taken only after putting necessary infrastructure such as proper parking space in place.
Concern of urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu of how roads are increasingly becoming parking lots, was shared by Gadkari.
Gadkari has talked about incentivising informers earlier as well.
At a conference last week in Nagpur, Nitin Gadkari said the Centre is preparing a new policy to increase the penalty on illegal parking from ₹200 to ₹1,000 & reward the complainants.
