August 8,2017:

Congress claims it to be the biggest scam of this century.

On Tuesday, Opposition Congress, supported by the TMC and JD(U), forced four adjournments of  the proceedings in Rajya Sabha over what it called as “biggest scam of this century” in printing of the two different kinds of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 rupee notes.

The Slogan-shouting Congress members trooped into Well even as the Leader of the House and the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley stated that the Opposition party has been raising “frivolous” issues without giving notices to stall the Zero Hour proceedings.

Mr. Sharad Yadav (JD-U) also displayed copies of some currency notes.

Mr. Derek O’Brien (TMC), displayed the new 500 rupee notes issued after the demonetisation to show difference in the sizes, they were being printed.

He then offered to submit the notes to Mr. Arun Jaitley for scrutiny and then walked up to him to explain the differences. He, however, did not leave the notes with Finance Minister.

Mr. Jaitley stated that there is no provision in rules that anyone could “flash any paper and say it is point of order. There is a misuse of Zero Hour which is going on”.
