About the Programme
School of Law, IMS Unison University is organizing a One Week Online Faculty Development Programme on “Expedition of Indian Legal System: Experiences, Emerging Practices and Outcomes” from 19 July 2021 to 24 July 2021.
Background
The institution very well understands and supports the spirit of undisrupted learning during times of a pandemic. In consonance with the same, enhancement of academia in legal arena forms a pertinent component of the University’s objectives.
This Faculty Development Program (FDP) aims to deliberate on the contemporary issues of Law and the changing dimension of Law in India and will provide an opportunity to the academicians, lawyers, research scholars, Advocates and other participants to enrich themselves with the recent developments in the areas of Indian Legal System and to bring academicians and researchers to a common platform to study and comprehend various emerging debates and issues in the Indian Legal system and thereby gain extensive knowledge and perspectives in this field. Additionally, it is an effective platform to interact with distinguished Academicians, Lawyers and Resource Persons from various spectrum of Legal Profession.
The Indian Legal system refers to an amalgam of civil, common and customary laws within a legal framework established by the Constitution. It is one of the oldest legal systems in the world and has been widely accepted as a way of life rather than a mere legal system. In the post-independence era, the main source of law in India is the Constitution which gives recognition to laws and customary practices which are consistent with its ideals. With the passage of time, due to advancement in technology and increasing functions of the State the Indian legal system has seen a massive evolution, be it in the form of enactment of various new laws or in the form of amendments in different areas or through evolving perceptions of the judiciary in the light of changing times and need.
Experts in their deliberations will delve upon the Expedition of Indian Legal System based on various developments undertaken through enactment of new legislations, judicial pronouncement and through constitutional amendments. The experts will also discuss the legal flaws and developments in various facets of law.
