Chinese Arbitration pioneer Tang Houzhi dies at 95

A Chinese arbitration pioneer and GAR Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Tang Houzhi, has died aged 95.

Professor Tang is Vice-Chairman of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), vice-chairman of the Beijing Conciliation Centre, a former Court Member of the London International Arbitration Court and Vice President of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI).

Professor Tang is a Professor in the School of Law of the People’s University of China, a visiting Professor of Amoy University School of Law, an honorary Professor of Hong Kong City University School of Law and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

Professor Tang’s extensive experience in international commercial dispute resolution also includes service as adviser to the China International Law Society and the China Private International Law Society, a member of the Executive Committee of the China Maritime Law Association, the Council of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).
