About the University
Karnataka State Law University was established in the State of Karnataka in 2009, with the avowed purpose of providing quality legal education. It is only one of its kind and is the single largest Law University in the country, affiliating 108 law colleges including its own Law School at the main campus in Hubballi.
About the Competition
The University has decided to organize the Moot Court Competition on Constitutional Law.

Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to bonafide undergraduate students from Law Colleges/ Law Universities recognized by the Bar Council of India currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Law either 3 year LL.B. or 5-year LL.B. Program.
- Only 30 teams will be registered on first come first served basis.
- Each College may send a team consisting of three members (two Speakers/Mooters and a Researcher).
- The members of the team shall be designated as Speakers/Mooters and Researcher in the Registration Form.
- Swapping of the designation of themembers shall not be allowed except with the prior permission of the organizer of the competition.
General Rules
- The participating Teams shall adhere to confidentiality. Disclosure of the identity of the Teams and Team members is prohibited except in the Registration Form.
- The participating Teams shall not reveal their identity in any form, except by means of the Team Code assigned to them by the Organizing Committee.
- The participating Teams shall not, in any way, reveal the identity of the Team, its members or the Institution/College/University represented, in the Written Memorials or in the course of the Oral Rounds.
- The Written Memorials shall not bear the logo, name, etc., of the Team, its members or the Institution/College/University represented by the Team.
- Any materials placed before the Bench or carried into the courtroom for the Oral Rounds shall be devoid of any identification marks/symbol of the Team or the Institution/College/ University represented.
- Any willful breach of Rules 2.1 to 2.5 of the Rules of the Competition may attract disqualification of the Team from the Competition or any other penalty as determined by the Organizing Committee of the Competition.
Registration Details
- The participating Team shall register by filling in the Google form provided at the end of this post.
- Apart from the same, duly filled in Registration Form (hard copy) has to be sent to The Coordinator, Karnataka State Law University, Navanagar, Hubballi-25, Karnataka.
- The filled in Registration Form along with Demand Draft of registration fees should reach to the University on or before 22nd August, 2023.
- The Registration Fee is Rs.3,000/- per participating team.
- The participating teams may pay the registration fee by way of a Demand Draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of “The Finance Officer, KSLU” payable at “Hubballi”. A scanned copy of the Demand Draft is to be uploaded on the Google form provided for the registration of the teams.
- The participation certificates for participating teams will be given on the basis of Registration Form. It shall incumbent on teams to ensure that names are spelt and mentioned correctly.
- Any changes in the contact details of members of the participating team shall be communicated to the Organizing Committee without any delay. This obligation to inform shall continue throughout the course of the Competition unless such a participating team withdraws or is disqualified from the Competition.
Structure of the Competition
The Four stages in the Competition shall be: Preliminary Round; Quarter Finals; Semi-Finals and Finals.
- Preliminary Round: Every participating Team shall take part in the Preliminary Round as per the fixtures drawn and announced.
- Quarter Finals: Fifty percent of the teams appearing on behalf of the Applicant/Petitioner and fifty percent of the teams appearing on behalf of the Respondent shall, on the basis of the marks secured in the Preliminary Round, enter the Quarter Finals.
- Semi-Finals: Four out of the Teams participating in the Quarter Finals shall, on the basis of the marks secured therein, move on to the Semi-Finals.
- Finals: Two out of the Teams in the Semi- Finals shall, on the basis of the marks secured therein, enter the Finals.
Prize
Prizes will be awarded to: Winners, Runners-up, Best Memorials, Best Gentleman Advocate, and Best Lady Advocate.
