Senior Advocate Vikas Singh was elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for the term 2025–2026. This marks his fourth tenure as SCBA President, following earlier victories in the years 2017–18, 2021–22, and 2022–23. In the current election, Singh secured the top position by prevailing over fellow senior advocates Pradeep Rai and Adish C. Aggarwala.
The post of Vice President was secured by Rahul Kaushik, while Pragya Baghel was elected as the Honorary Secretary and Vikrant Yadav as Treasurer.
The elections were conducted in accordance with the directions issued by the Supreme Court on May 6, wherein the Court had mandated that the SCBA office-bearer elections be held on May 20. The apex court further clarified that the elections would be based on the finalised voter list used for the 2024 elections. Additionally, it permitted inclusion of those members who attained eligibility up to February 28, 2025, to be added to the voter list.
Significantly, the Court had directed that the position of Honorary Secretary for the 2025–26 term be reserved exclusively for a woman candidate. Moreover, it was ordered that one-third of the positions in both the Executive Committee (i.e., 3 out of 9 seats) and the Senior Executive Committee (i.e., 2 out of 6 seats) be reserved for women candidates, ensuring greater gender representation in the association’s leadership.
This election cycle underscores both continuity and reform, recognizing seasoned leadership while implementing judicially mandated inclusivity measures within the legal fraternity’s premier representative body.
