Senior Advocate Gopalakrishna Kurup is appointed as the next Advocate General of Kerala. His name is sealed by the newly elected LDF Government in its first Cabinet meeting. Earlier C P Sudhakar Prasad, who was serving as Advocate General of Kerala resigned from his post. He had sent his resignation to the law secretary on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. 

Senior Advocate TA Shaji will be the new Director-General of Prosecution.

About C P Sudhakar Prasad

He was appointed as Kerala's Advocate General during the first term of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's government. He served as Advocate General in 2006-2011 during the last LDF Government’s tenure. 

Appointment of Advocate General

The Office of the Advocate General is a constitutional office created under Article 165 of the Constitution of India. The Governor of the State appoints a person who is qualified to be appointed as a judge of the High Court as Advocate General of the State.
