March,4,2016: In compliance of orders of Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra, Justice P V Reddy has submitted a detailed report after examining the answer papers of those who did not clear the 2014 Delhi Judicial Service (Mains) Exam. The Report concludes that there was nothing unfair about the valuation.

The order was passed after a petition was filed by lawyer Prashant Bhushan for his NGO Center For Public Interest Litigation alleging that there were several irregularities and discrepancies in the evaluation and kin of several sitting judges of the Delhi High Court were favoured.

After opening the report submitted in a sealed cover Justice Shiva Kirti Singh observed that upon evaluation of 100 papers, everything was found absolutely fair.

Justice Misra allowed Bhushan to inspect the report.  Without divulging details of the report, the lawyers appearing for the Delhi High Court  said that the valuation appeared to be fair and no grievous mistakes have been found.

Supreme Court had admitted a Writ Petition against the examination, filed by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation, through Advocate Prashant Bhushan. The Court however made the final results of the selection process subject to the outcome of the Writ.

The DJS exam was held in July last year, pursuant to a notification that was issued after a period of three years. A total of 9,033 candidates appeared for the Prelims. Out of these, 659 students cleared the Prelims and became eligible to write the Mains. When the results were published in May this year, it turned out that only 15 candidates had cleared the exam, and asked to appear for the interview.

Before that in June,2015, Law Minister Sadananda Gowda had written to the  Delhi High Court Chief Justice G. Rohini to look into the “corruption, favoritism and nepotism” in the Delhi Judicial Services Examination that was held in New Delhi last year.

Sr. Advocate Prashant Bhushan had also written to Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice G. Rohini, bringing to her notice, the apparent irrationality in the result of the Main Exam of the Delhi Judicial Service, (DJS) 2014.
