On Sunday, the Supreme Court issued a circular advising members of the Bar and parties-in-person to consider appearing through hybrid mode via video conferencing, in view of the prevailing weather conditions.

The advisory, issued on December 14, 2025, reflects the Court’s effort to ensure smooth judicial functioning while prioritising the convenience and safety of lawyers and litigants. The Chief Justice of India has indicated that, wherever convenient, stakeholders may avail the virtual mode for matters listed before the Supreme Court.

The circular has been formally circulated to the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association, with directions to display it prominently on their notice boards for wider dissemination among members. Copies have also been placed on all relevant notice boards within the Court premises.

The move reinforces the Supreme Court’s continued reliance on technology-enabled access to justice, a practice institutionalised during the pandemic and now increasingly used to address logistical and environmental challenges as well.
