The President of India has appointed Smt. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai as Acting Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.

The notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice notifies that -

In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Smt. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, senior-most Judge of Sikkim High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from the date Shri Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari relinquishes the charge as Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.”

The notification further notifies that Smt. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, senior-most Judge of Sikkim High Court will hold the office of Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court from the date as Shri Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari relinquishes the charge as Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court consequent upon his appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
