The Central Government of India has assented for the appointment of Justice Hamarsan Singh Thanglchiew, senior most Judge of the Manipur High Court as the acting Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
The notification issued by the Law Ministry notifies that “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Hamarsan Singh Thanglchiew, Judge of the Meghalaya High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 02.11.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Sanjib Banerjee, Chief Justice, Meghalaya High Court on 01.11.2023.”
