The President of India has assented for elevation of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court as Justice of Supreme court of India.
The notification issued by the Law Ministry notifies that “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chief Justice, Allahabad High Court, to be a Judge of the Supreme Court of India with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office .”
Justice Rajesh Bindal was transferred as a Judge of the High Court at Calcutta vide dated 31st December,2020 and was sworn in as a Judge of the High Court at Calcutta on January 5, 2021.
Further he was appointed to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta with effect from 29th April, 2021.
About Justice Rajesh Bindal
Justice Rajesh Bindal was born on 16th April, 1961 at Ambala City in the State of Haryana (India). He did LL.B. from Kurukshetra University in 1985 and joined profession in High Court of Punjab & Haryana in September 1985. He represented Chandigarh Administration before Central Administrative Tribunal for more than a decade till 2004. He represented Punjab & Haryana regions of Employees Provident Fund Organization before the High Court and Central Administrative Tribunal from 1992 till his elevation.
