The Central Government has approved the appointment of Madras High Court judge, Justice M. Sundar, as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the development on X (formerly Twitter), stating that Justice Sundar will assume office as Chief Justice of Manipur upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice, Justice Kempaiah Somashekar, on 14 September 2025.
Earlier, on 11 September, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Sundar’s elevation to the position of Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
