District Judge in Tis Hazari Delhi has recently issued a circular to protect the identity of rape victims.
The circular was issued under the signature of Sh. Talwant Singh who is District & Sessions Judge (HQ). The circular has been circulated amongst various stake holders vide No. 1107/28072-28172/Power Gaz./19 dated 03.05.2019.
The circular basically takes cognizance of the fact that delhi police has been filing charge-sheet in rape cases before Magistracy and in those cases, names of victims of rape are openly disclosed. This has been taken as in violation of law.
Through this circular, the Magistracy have been directed to ensure that such charge-sheets are not accepted. A copy of circular has apparently been sent to the High Court and also to the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
