Former Chief Justice of India Justice A.M. Ahmadi passed away.
He had a long and distinguished career in the legal profession, serving in various capacities before being appointed as the Chief Justice of India in 1994.
As the President of the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee and the Executive Chairman of the Committee for Implementing Legal Aid Schemes in India, Justice Ahmadi played an important role in promoting access to justice for all.
His tenure as the Chief Justice of India saw the landmark judgments in the Bommai case, which dealt with the issue of dismissal of state governments, and the Jain Hawala case, which dealt with political corruption.
Justice Ahmadi will be remembered as a legal luminary who made significant contributions to the development of the Indian legal system.
