Former Uttar Pradesh Advocate General and Senior Advocate SP Gupta (92) died on Saturday in a private hospital in Prayagraj. He had been ill for several days. His last rites will be performed on Sunday at 11 am at the crematorium at Shankar Ghat. Self. Gupta remained close to Mulayam Singh Yadav.
He was appointed Advocate General in the Samajwadi Party government. He was well versed in civil matters in the Allahabad High Court. He used to go for arguments in the Supreme Court also. He remained popular among lawyers due to his simple nature and soft spoken nature. His son Sunil Gupta is a senior advocate in the Supreme Court.
