The Bar Council has found that fake lawyers are practicing in Kerala including the High Court. The council's observation comes as the process of authenticating the education certificates of advocates is about to end today.

The move is to ban lawyers who do not ensure the authenticity of certificates. The Kerala Bar Council will hold an emergency meeting on July 2 to discuss the issue. Kerala Bar Council Vice Chairman C.S. Ajithan Namboothiri said that after examining the applications received so far, some fakes were found.

The Bar Council tightened the certificate verification when the incident of a native of Alappuzha Ramangari working as a lawyer came to light. The Bar Council is of the opinion that all the lawyers who are currently practicing in the courts of Kerala should obtain a copy of their qualification certificates and get their practicing certificates renewed. Enrollment and practice certificates for advocates are issued by the Bar Council.

The Bar Associations collect the copies of certificates from the advocates and give them to the State Bar Council Secretaries. Applicants for enrollment should submit their educational certificates from class 10 onwards.
