Days after Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi began shooting for Jolly LLB 3, it has now been reported that their movie has landed in legal trouble. Chandrabhan, the President of the Ajmer District Bar Association, has filed a complaint against the makers of a film franchise for allegedly disrespecting the Indian judiciary system, according to NBT.
As per reports, a complaint has been filed against the actors, director and the producers of the film. In his complaint, Chandrabhan claimed that the film presents lawyers and judges in an “inappropriate” way which, he termed, is “humorous and indecent”. Chandrabhan has also urged the court to stop the Jolly LLB 3 shooting. His plea will be heard later today.
“This decision has been taken considering the first and second parts of Jolly LLB. It seems that the filmmakers, directors and actors do not respect the dignity and prestige of the judiciary of the country’s Constitution at all. The shooting of Jolly LLB 3 is going on in the surrounding villages and areas including the DRM office of Ajmer, which will continue for several days. Even during the shooting of this film, the actors of the film do not seem to be at all serious about the image, prestige and dignity of the judiciary including the judges,” Chandrabhan said as quoted by NBT.
The first Jolly LLB film was released in 2013. Its sequel hit theatres in 2017. The first film featured Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla in the lead roles. In the sequel, Akshay Kumar replaced Arshad Warsi. He was also joined by Huma Qureshi.
Earlier, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Arshad explained the reason behind going MIA in Jolly LLB 2. “I have no idea. I have a feeling the makers wanted to upscale the film. I remember I told Subhash (Kapoor, director) also, ‘You should do it with Akshay. If you want to show a crowd in a courtroom, with me it will be 500; with Akshay, you will get 5000′. Somewhere, the production people realized, ‘Let’s get a bigger star’. People liked to see me, so I am back. People will enjoy seeing me and Akshay,” he said.
Reportedly, in the third instalment, Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi will be seen at loggerheads whereas, Saurabh Shukla will reprise his role as a judge. Recently, Akshay also dropped a fun video from the sets of Jolly LLB 3. In the clip, Akshay and Arshad were seen dressed in black robes. It began with Arshad warning everyone to beware of “Jagdish Tyagi aka Jolly BA LLB Duplicate”. Following this, Arshad was seen introducing himself as the “original” Jolly. The video ended with a glimpse of Saurabh Shukla.
As of now, the release date for Jolly LLB 3 has not been announced.
