Law Ministry informed Lok Sabha that 4,53,51,913 cases are pending in District and Subordinate Courts. 60,11,678 cases are pending in the High Courts in India.
The Ministry replied to unstarred questions that the total number of cases pending in Supreme Court and High Courts and Lower Courts, District Courts.
Three States having most numbers of pending cases are as follows:
- Uttar Pradesh: 11848518 cases
- Maharashtra: 5461530 cases
- Bihar: 3567635 cases
