Minister of State in Ministry of Home Affairs Shri Nityanand Rai informed Lok Sabha that 10,205 women police personals are posted in Delhi Police. He has also stated that Government of India has approved 33% reservation for women in direct recruitment in Non-Gazetted posts from Constable to Sub-Inspector.
He replied to an Unstarred Question related to the number of women officers in Delhi Police at present and the details of the steps taken to increase their number in Delhi Police.
He stated that the sanctioned strength of Delhi police is 94,358 out of which 10,205 are women police personals.
The Minister further informed the Lok Sabha that to augment the representation of women in the Police Forces of all the Union Territories (UTs) including Delhi Police, Government of India has approved 33% reservation for women in direct recruitment in Non-Gazetted posts from Constable to Sub-Inspector, on 20.03.2015.
