On Wednesday, Cybercrime sleuths held a 21-year-old man, Moin Pipdawala, a resident of the Gol Limda area, for creating an Instagram account of a girl and uploading lewd comments and pictures.
Assistant commissioner of police Jeetendra Yadav said the accused and victim met during the university exams in 2018 and had become friends.
“As the girl separated from the accused, to get even by besmirching the girl, the accused made the Instagram account” he added.
According to cybercrime sources, a month ago the girl made an application to cybercrime police station regarding the Instagram account in her name.
“We obtained the IP log of the device used to create the account and reached the accused. The accused confessed that he wanted to get even with the girl and thus made the account. We sent him for a pre-arrest Covid-19 test,” added Yadav.
