Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad resigned from Modi Cabinet on Wednesday, just an hour ahead of a major Cabinet reshuffle. He held the portfolio of Law & Justice, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ministry.

Prasad's exit comes at a time when the government is locked in a bitter faceoff with micro-blogging platform Twitter. He had been leading government's stand on similar such issues.

Earlier in June, Twitter had briefly blocked IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from accessing his account, ratcheting up tensions with the government as it came under renewed attack for not following local laws.

Besides, Environment and Forest minister Prakash Javadekar has also resigned. He held the portfolio of Environment, Forest & Climate Change; Information & Broadcasting; & Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises.

Earlier in the day, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had also announced their resignations.
