The President of India has assented to the appointment Shri Justice Sanjay Vijay kumar Gangapurwala, senior-most puisne Judge of the Bombay High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.
The notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice has notified that “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Sanjay Vijaykumar Gangapurwala, senior-most puisne Judge of the Bombay High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from the date Shri Justice Dipankar Datta relinquishes the charge as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court consequent upon his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.”
About Justice Sanjay Vijay kumar Gangapurwala
Justice SV Kumar stood third in the order of merit in LL.B. examination. He started practice in the year 1985 and joined Chambers of advocate Shri S.N.Loya. He practiced in trial Court, High Court and Debt Recovery Tribunal. He was advocate for Financial Institutions such as Central Bank of India, Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank, Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank, many Corporate bodies and Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.
