Punjab Government has appointed Rehatbir Singh Maan as new deputy AG of Punjab. The appointment come amidst an ongoing row over Advocate General APS Deol, whose appointment has been opposed tooth and nail by PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had even resigned from his post over the issue.
The government has also appointed Sumeet Mahajan as senior AAG, Aadil Singh Boparai as AAG. According to an official order, Lehal and Berry have been “appointed in the office of the advocate general” with immediate effect and “will be defending cases for and on behalf of the state of Punjab in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on prevailing terms and conditions”.
“This engagement would be purely on a contractual basis initially up to March 31, 2022, which is extendable on year to year basis,” according to the order.
