Senior advocate from Assam and the Advocate General of Arunachal Pradesh Nilayananda Dutta has passed away.

He was a leading light and a stalwart in the field of law. He possessed a brilliant mind with a dutiful work ethic and was a guiding force for countless junior advocates of the region. In the past, he had served as the Advocate General for the state of Nagaland and was currently holding the position of Advocate General for the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Press Release issued by the Bar Council of India states that “Senior Advocate Shri Nilayananda Dutta, a doyen in the field of law who hailed from Assam, tragically passed away due to a heart attack while on holiday with his family in Coorg on 19th September 2021. In addition to his numerous contributions in the legal field, he was also a passionate cricket administrator and an international cricket umpire.”

The BCI family pray for his departed soul to rest in peace and for his family to have the strength to bear the loss.
