2. Petitioner's husband was employed as regular employee in Group-D, who died in harness on 09.05.2024. Petitioner has made application for compassionate appointment on 06.11.2024; however, decision thereupon has not been taken.

3. By means of this writ petition, petitioner has sought a direction to the competent authority to take decision on pending application.

4. Learned counsel for the petitioner has drawn attention of this Court to a letter dated 16.12.2025, issued by Establishment Officer to the In-charge Officer, University Library, whereby request was made to forward the proposal regarding petitioner's compassionate appointment at an early date.

5. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that proposal in terms of the said letter has not been submitted so far.

6. Having regard to the facts of the case, the 2026:UHC:1084 writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Establishment Officer to take decision on petitioner's application, as per law, within four weeks from date of presentation of certified copy of this order.
