SUVIR SEHGAL, J. (Oral)

1. Rano C/o Jaj Singh (petitioner No.1) claims to be 17 years and 5

months, and Jaj Singh, son of Late Sh. Dhira Singh, (petitioner No.2)

claims to be 18 years and 7 months of age. They have pleaded that they are

in live-in relationship against the wishes of respondents No. 4 to 8. They

apprehend danger from them and seek protection to their life and liberty.

2. The petitioners have submitted a representation dated 02.11.2023,

Annexure P-3, to respondent No.2 - Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.

Counsel for the petitioners has relied upon a judgment of this Court in P

Versus State of Haryana and others, 2022 (3) R.C.R. (Criminal) 179 and

submitted that this Court had entertained petition for protection of couples

in live-in relationship, even though one of the petitioners was a minor.

3. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary

value of the documents placed on the file, petition is disposed of with

direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners,

Annexure P-3, and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and

liberty is perceived. Respondents shall take further action keeping in view

of the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act,

2015. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the

petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by

them.
