1. The petitioner claims to be in continuous possession of plot No. 204,

measuring 18 Marlas, 171 Sq. ft., situate at Sector No. 13, Nanak

Nagar, Jammu, after residential house came to be constructed by his

predecessor-in-interest. Petitioner seeks regularisation/ownership

rights in the light of Government orders issued from time to time

including Government Order No. 208-UD of 1989 dated 16.08.1989.

Petitioner is also stated to have made several representations before

the respondents for regularisation of the subject land, which, according

to the petitioner, have not evoked any response till date.

2. Mr. Anirudh Sharma, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has

relied upon a judgment dated 14.05.2025 passed by a Co-ordinate

2026:JKLHC-JMU:38

Bench of this Court in WP(C) No. 1186/2020 titled "Gurmeet Kour

Vs. Union Territory of J&K & Ors. to claim parity and submits that he

will be satisfied, in case the respondents are directed to consider the

claim of the petitioner on the same lines and in particular in view of

the aforesaid Government Order No. 208-UD of 1989, to which

learned counsel opposite has no objection.

3. Having regard to the limited nature of the controversy and innocuous

prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, the present writ

petition is admitted to hearing at its threshold and disposed of with a

direction to the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioner

within a period of six weeks from the date a copy of this order along

with copy of writ petition and annexures are made available.

4. Disposed of along with connected application(s).
