Heard Mr. J. Payeng, learned counsel for the appellant and Mr. B. Sarma, learned Special Public Prosecutor for the respondents, Wildlilfe.

2. This criminal appeal under Section 415, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita [BNSS], 2023 is preferred against a Judgment and Order dated 21.07.2025 passed by the Court of learned Additional Sessions Judge [FTC] -cum- Special Judge, Sivasagar in Special [WL] Case no. 01/2022, which arose out of Case no. SIV/S/15 of 2021-22. By the Judgment and Order dated 21.07.2025, the appellant has been convicted for the offence under Section 51 of Wildlife Protection Act and he has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for seven years and to pay fine of Rs. 50,000/-, in default of payment of fine, to undergo simple imprisonment for another year.

3. I have gone through the grounds urged in the memorandum of appeal.

4. The criminal appeal is admitted for hearing.

5. Let the case records of Special [WL] Case no. 01/2022 be called for.

6. Issue notice, returnable on 10.09.2025.

7. As Mr. Sarma, learned Special Public Prosecutor, Wildlife has appeared and accepted notices on behalf of both the respondents, issuance of formal notice to the respondents is dispensed with. The learned counsel for the appellant shall furnish requisite an extra copy of the criminal appeal along with the annexures, to Mr. Sarma within 3 [three] working days from today.

8. List the case on 10.09.2025.
