                    % 21.04.2025

                    C. HARI SHANKAR, J.

1. The only prayer in the writ petition is that appeal dated 29 August 2024, preferred by the petitioner against the order dated 18 July 2024 dismissing him from service has been pending for seven months as on date without any decision thereof. Accordingly, the petitioner has prayed for a direction to the respondent to decide the appeal in a time bound manner.

2. Mr. Mahapatra, learned Central Government Standing Counsel

for the Union of India, who is present in Court, has very kindly agreed on the request of the Court, to assist us in the matter. He is also instructed by HC Jitender Kumar Mishra. On instructions from HC Jitender Kumar Mishra, Mr. Mahapatra submits that this writ petition may be disposed of by granting the respondent eight weeks' time to dispose of the appeal.

3. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of, with a direction to the respondents to take a decision on the petitioner's appeal dated 29 August 2024 within a period of eight weeks and communicate the decision to the petitioner forthwith.

4. Needless to say, the rights of the petitioner, should he be aggrieved by the decision in the appeal, would remain reserved.

5. The petition is, accordingly, disposed of.

6. We express our gratitude to Mr. Mahapatra for having assisted the court.
