1. Issue notice.

2. Ms. Ranjana Roy Gawai, Advocate enters appearance and accepts notice on behalf of the respondent. She submits, on instructions from the respondent, that the respondent has no objection to the time being extended.

3. This is a petition filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 ('Act') seeking extension of time for completion of the arbitral proceedings and passing of the Award.

4. The Arbitral Tribunal entered upon reference on 04.07.2018. Statutory

period of twelve months under Section 29A(1) of the Act expired on 03.07.2019.

5. Learned counsels for the parties jointly submit that although in the interregnum, the time was extended by the Arbitral Tribunal by mutual consent of the parties for a period of six months, but there is no formal order to that effect. The extended time of six months expired on 03.01.2020.

6. Learned counsels for the parties submit that the pleadings are complete in the matter and the proceedings are at the stage of cross- examination of the witness of the claimant and pray that the time be further extended for a period of six months.

7. For the reasons stated in the petition, and with the consent of the parties, time for completion of the proceedings and passing of the award is extended by a period of six months from today i.e. 23.01.2020. The period between 03.07.2020 to 22.01.2020 is hereby regularised.

8. The petition is allowed in the aforesaid terms.
