About NUSRL
National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, established under the National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi Act, 2010 by the Government of Jharkhand. The Rector of the University is the Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, serves as the Chancellor, while the Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, is the Visitor of the University.
About the Chair
The Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP) was established at NUSRL, Ranchi in October 2024 by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, to promote research, teaching and training in Consumer law. The Chair acts as a “Think Tank” for the research and policy related issues on consumer law and also develop consumer affairs as a distinct subject of study both at Under Graduate & Post Graduate levels.
Eligibility
- Internship is open to students from recognized law and other institutions and universities.
- Students pursuing the following courses can apply:
- Second and third year of the Bachelor’s degree in Law (3-year course after graduation) or
- Second year onwards in the case of the integrated five-year course in Law.
- LLM students.
- Students from other academic backgrounds apart from law (i.e students from NIT and the National Institute of Design).
Process
- First Phase: Submission and approval of a schematic synopsis of the research to be undertaken by the intern.
- Second Phase: Literature review, collection of resources, and timely updates on research progress.
- Third Phase: Mandatory presentation on the research undertaken at the end of the internship.
- Fourth Phase: Submission of the final report incorporating the suggestions and inputs provided during the presentation.
Required Skills
- Genuine interest in Consumer Laws.
- Strong research abilities, both qualitative and quantitative.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks efficiently.
- Capacity for collaborative teamwork and positive contributions to group dynamics.
- High ethical standards, academic integrity, and research honesty.
- Good project management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively use legal research tools such as Manupatra and SCC Online, etc.
- A strong understanding of legal subjects and the ability to build on this knowledge.
- Analytical ability to assess facts and laws and present them strategically.
- Ability to use Canva and other designing platforms.
- Along with videography and other allied skills.

Stipend
No amount will be given as an honorarium during the internship.
Duration
Internship is normally for a period of a minimum of 30 working days. There will be a short induction program on the provision of Consumer Laws on the first day of the internship.
