Bollywood music can be played at weddings and other similar events, according to a decree from the Union government, without fear of legal repercussions for copyright violation.

The Centre accepted a request from the hospitality sector, which prompted the action.

Years-long disputes with copyright companies demanding that they pay licence fees for playing copyrighted Bollywood music during such events have plagued wedding planners, hotels, and private individuals. However, the demands broke copyright regulations, which led to pointless conflicts. The Centre's ruling ensures that copyrighted music be played at weddings within the bounds of the law by adhering to the standards outlined in the Copyright Act.

He said the order would relieve the general public and the hotel sector, which took the brunt of pressure from numerous copyright organisations. "We support the change. Unjustified defamation lawsuits in locations like Kolkata and Guwahati are harassing several of the association's members. The Center's decision should help to stop the harassers and allow the general people to enjoy themselves without interference.
